I'm not 100% on this but I think the combat thing is more of an invitation to fly combat planes rather than an actual combat contest.
The 'real' combat meet is in Pa. with Phil Cartier.
I'm hoping to be at GSCB with a few smokey and noisy old combat rigs!   TS

PS   Maybe some PS too

The event this weekend is "Combat Speed". 7 laps timed for top speed. Fun event only, as run at the fall combat fun fly.

We left Long Island early with light rain and confidence in a clearing forecast.  Overcast, 57*, ZERO wind.  Dead calm most of the morning.  Nice turn out and some good flying.

I got to enter and fly in my first stunt meet at GSCB. Since I came in last I can only go up. Might have lost points for the 'most ugly plane' or the flipped landing??

The combat speed portion was not taken seriously but we did get to blast around a bit with a couple of oldies. First flight on the Jr. Satan/G-15 combo. Handles nice sounds good. Combat Kat/ G-21 flew very steady with some nose weight. Luciano's straight wing SS/ 36xBB sounded/ looked great on several flights. Proceedings overseen by Hisself.

Gentlemen,
Thank you for contributing to the post.  Looks like we missed a great time.  My 17 year old son, Ryan, whom most of you know was scheduled to do a three way cross country flight to two airports in PA as a final part of his pilot training.  Unfortunately, his flight was cancelled in early afternoon due to cloud cover and threat of thunderstorms.  Had we been given more advanced notice we would have joined the festivities. We will see you on July 10 at the Stunt Clinic.

Just looked at all 106 photos.  Tommy is the only one I recognized.  Looks like a good flying site.  Also noticed some youngsters flying.  Is the take off strip visible on Google maps?  Did I say it looks like you all are having way too much fun. H^^
