In many oil producing nations gas is absurdly cheap. In Venezuela it's 12 cents a gallon. In Saudi Arabia it's 45.

Canada is THE major #1 oil producing nation that provides oil to the U.S.A.  Google will
provide the verification to those who do not know or believe this.   :o

Yet, it is 'interesting' that gas costs more in Canada to buy then it does in the United States.

I wish I could buy gasoline for 12 cents a gallon.  #^

You'll find out about the high cost of gas pretty quick - after having pizza and beer, and then
taking your girl out to a movie.   n1  - Soon enough, you'll be producing your own gas.
 It'll cost ya.    :-[   LL~  LL~  LL~

Hey fellows, if you check, you will find that the actual cost of gas is not that much.  It is all the federal, state, county and city taxes attatched to the price of gas.  DOC Holliday

The national average for fuel tax in the United States is .47 cents per gallon That includes all taxes Fed, State, City. That works out to about 15% nation wide.

That makes the gas cost about $3+ gallon.  You can see how much more folks in other countries are paying in gas taxes.
One problem we have that most other countries don't is that distances travelled here are much more than in Europe.  England is only about 400 or so miles north to south.  I just drove that to the Huntersville contest last weekend.  The Netherlands is about 240 mi north to south- about from Philly to Pittsburg.  Texas is over 800 miles across.  Not much we can do to greatly reduce gas costs with distances like those.

The Gas prices here in Australia are almost $6 a gallon, nowhere is close in Australia! plus the roads are nothing like those in Europe or the States but it's still the best address on the planet!
