Re: Enya 45, 6001, bushing: what size venturi?

Rusty,
I would start with the 7mm (0.275") with the OS NVA, should be good starting point. The 7.5mm (0.295") would be better with a ST NVA.

Brett Buck has noted here that the venturi area is fairly constant for a full-sized stunter, regardless of engine displacement.  That's the area that's not blocked off by the spraybar, so you need a bigger hole if you're going to go block it off with a bigger spraybar.

So, what Dennis said for just about ANYTHING two-stroke.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

The stock #1 venturi insert is 6.9 mm (.272") with a 4 mm spraybar. The stock #2 venturi insert is 7.5 mm (.295") with the same 4 mm spraybar.

Hi There, My Enyas both 6001PB and 6001BB have run quite well on .273 ID venturis with STNVAs. These are sweet running stunt engines which will give you hours and hours of flying fun using 5% 11/11 in the winter or cooler months and 7.5% to 10% nitro with the same oil mix in the warmer months. Jim Lee has made venturi inserts for me and offers really fine NVAs. He is a supplier listed in the "Vendor's Corner" herein. Let him know what you want he is very reliable and prompt.

The 6001 PB is a "tractor engine", it is not designed for a lot of RPM but has gobs of torque. It is such a good stunt engine that the top Japanese stunt fliers got Enya to produce the 45S because they felt that the BB engines were not as good a stunt engine. The 45 BB 6001 is a much different engine than the 45 6001 PB engine. The 45 BB 6001 is a good engine, but the Japanese stunt fliers did not like it nearly as well as the 45 6001 PB. The 45 6001 PB are great engines!

Jim Lee has drawings for both sizes of venturi insert for the Enya 35 II 6001 and the 45 PB 6001.
