I got this kit as a Christmas gift back when I was still young and innocent (
) and it has been siting in my kit pile since then. I knew that I wouldn't be able to do it justice with my very limited scale building skills, so when Fred approached me and said that Edson might like the kit, I felt very good and didn't think twice about selling it.
Edson is a very dedicated modeller and his idea of a Brazilian Museum of Model Airplanes is really inspiring. I know that he has been acquiring all sorts of interesting items, from vintage and rare kits, to engines, magazines and other pieces of model history.
If anyone feel that there might be a cool piece of memorabilia that should be in the museum, please let me or Fred Know and we will be glad to put you in touch with Edson. And, of course, as soon as the collection is up for showing, we will share it here with you.
Back to the model, this is the very last kit produced by Mac's (which was a short distance from my house) before the owner closed shop. They also produced a kit for the Miss Dara design, which enjoyed a relative success in Brazil during the late 80's/early 90's.
During that time, Casa Aerobras also introduced their T-27 Tucano kit, similar to the Carioca in concept: semi scale design, lots of plastic fairings, powered by a .15 or .20 engine.
I'm eagerly waiting to see the masterpiece that will come out of Fred's workbench.
