Thanks for the intro Bill...
It was explained in detail at the Christmas Party at Don and Flora Hutchinson's last night. To wit...
The welcoming New Year Fun Fly, championed by Tom Niebuhr on his arrival in town years ago, is neither the "Frozen Finger", nor is it the "Frigid Digit". Those are well-known and respected titles, heralded throughout the world of control line.
The Dallas Miniature Aircraft Association's title of its New Year's gathering does not refer to simply a "digit" on a person's hand, rather, the whole person.
What type person would venture out in mid-winter to fly on a frozen, wind-blown, ice and snow covered field? Who would dare attempt to start a cold Fox in such conditions? In some mind's eye, only an idiot, of course, or "idjit" in some folks' vernacular. A "Frigid Idiot".
Hence we get...."Frijididjit". Now, what's so difficult about that?
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all the DMAAers to all those who pick up the handle, or think about it, or help others do so. Fly safely,
dg
Edit: In perusing previous newsletters, I notice the editor hasn't spelled the "Fridgididjit" the same way twice!
