C/L AT THE MAINE JET RALLY
« on: August 26, 2016, 01:40:30 PM »
Hello All,

Control Line will again be part of the Maine RC Jet Rally, mainejetrally.org, on Sept 9, 10 and 11 at the Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport in Sanford, Maine.

With two, and possibly three circles, open C/L flying will be taking place all three days and Saturday, Sept 11 will feature a sanctioned GX Combat meet on one of the circles.

Members of the New England Stunt Team (NEST) are expected with our PAMPA Dist I VP, Rick Huff, flying the stunt pattern with his twin electric Pathfinder during the noontime demos alongside the RC Jets and Helicopters. It'll be a great opportunity to showcase some cutting edge C/L technology. Full Scale, still being negotiated, might be some Texas Flying Legends WWII fighters on static and a maybe flyby of a BD 5.

The Rally is being scaled back a bit this year with limited RC Car and Heli presence so it has the potential of turning into an RC Jet and C/L show. We've moved the circles close to show central so a lineup of front row worthy Precision Aerobatics models would attract a lot of attention.

Fees for the C/L flyers are being worked out and are NOT reflected in the preregistration site, RCFlightDeck.com. Preregistering (recommended) gets you a onetime fee for all three days. I'll post the details for C/L flyer registration here next week. Given the parsimonious nature of us C/Lers, it will be quite reasonable.

Hope to see some of you there,
         Ara

       Update:

We've scrubbed the GX Combat meet that was to be held on Saturday, Sept 10 at the Maine Jet Rally due to lack of entries.

The C/L venue is still on with two circles.

        Preregistration Fee:
The preregistration fee is $20 for all C/L pilots which covers all three days. Included is a refund of the on site admission ($10) for the pilot, and a free admission for a pilots nonflying 'guest', such as a spouse/helper, caller, pit man etc.. Registering onsite for C/L pilots is $20 per day plus $10 admission. Register at mainejetrally.org.

There will still be plenty of open C/L flying on the two circles Friday, Saturday and Sunday with C/L Precision Aerobatic demos by Rick Huff on Saturday and Dick Carville on Sunday during the noon time demos. RC nighttime demonstrations are scheduled for Saturday evening. We'll also be putting on demo slow combat flights throughout the rally and will have a fleet of Buster/Ringmasters for any C/L flyers wanting to give it a try. The biggest smiles I've ever seen at the Rally was on the faces of a pair of dedicated PA guys, who had never flown combat, slugging it out with a pair of Ringmasters.

Word is, the GX Combat guys are off to the FPV races with their new quadcopters. (just kidding!!)

        Ara
