Hi Dale,

I used to get it from Riley.  It was a special order!  I think they just ran 3/32 through the sander again.  I don't know of any specific sources today.  I would also like to find one!

Dale, I have a bunch of .077" sheets, but unfortunately they are still in the middle of some 2" blocks, and will be awful hard to get out!

What do you use it for, ribs on bigger wings or maybe really light fuselage sides?

So they can sand it to 1/16" instead of just using 1/16" to start with!

It is for Wrap-molding fuselages and leading edges wetted down. Strong enough yet doesn't leave you with a horse to feed.

I guess with the passing of the Dad of the son who now runs the shop in Irving doesn't cut balsa any more or is just doing it for the free flight guys that know him.  Was surprised to learn that the shop is a historic landmark when I visited last year.

Now it comes to me after I posted.  MAL( Model Airplane Labs)  in Irving Texas.  When I first met the Dad many, many years ago he bragged about cutting balsa for the late and great Bob Gieseke.

By far the best way to bring your materials to the optimum thickness: Byrnes - Model Machines Thickness Sander. Just a beautifully built tool.

Riley was the best.

You could ask him for 4-6# C grain, 8# A grain, whatever, and that's what you got - at a very reasonable price. I've still got some big blocks for fuselage tops he sold me.

That's much more reasonable then I would have thought. $350 whereas I was sure it would be $1K at least, just looking at it.

How long would it take to make the investment back if a person started doing custom thickness sanding for people?   I have a wood workers hardwood planer that I have used to get boards the same thickness.
