Battle Wagon profile
« on: March 02, 2012, 07:05:27 AM »
I thought I would share this project for interest  and possible comments.  Last year a couple of old profiles showed up for sale in our club.  The planes were obtained by  Art Nordquist who loves restoring old models and they were king of unique in design, especially the wing which looks at first glance to be in backward.  My son Lee purchased one of the mdels and the other went to Joe Daniels.

Over the summer we found that the planes flew very well and handled windy conditions very well so Joe Daniels and I started looking for information on them.   Turns out they were designed and built by Patrick Rowan in 1973 & 1974 and the two planes we had were his original models.  The plane below is the one my son owns, it was Pat's  original 1973 Battle Wagon, spans 42" and is flying with an old O.S. .30.   This one has a race plane type look to it while the second Battle Wagon built in 1974 had a more conventional look.  Pat hs told me that the second model had a slightly improved rib for the wing and that both planes originally had wire LGs.   The second model I don not have photos for as yet but will be happy to post when I do.  It is being flown with a Fox .36X.

Joe Daniels is drawing up plans for the models as they both fly very well and in case anyone is interested in them and I was wondering if the information we have would qualify the models for  Nostalgia 30 events ?????

Hi Dalton,

I can see nothing that would disqualify using them in Nostalgia 30 competition.  You have the original designer's word on it and they surely look like older models.
