My "kit" of the Genesis MKIII

I finally got off my duff and ordered a lost foam wing set from Bob Hunt some time back. I now have the "kit" of my Genesis MK III cut out and will start construction in May.  Life had interrfered again.  LL~

Hi Ty,

A "kit" is a great idea!  I have the "normal" foam wings for mine.

It IS Nos. 30 legal as well as legal for the "Super '70s" class.  Bob won the World Champs in 1978 with it............ ???

Great, I just never found any article on it, with plans, so I could add it to my list of N 30 legal models. Now I will. H^^

It was published in FM but I cannot remember the date.  Regular building article with one page a reduced plan.

Thanks Marcus, I have that issue, and the plans but it is not called the Mark III.  I'm in Colorado at present and if memory serves, it is called the Genesis 46.  Is that correct?

That is a good question..
Maybe Bob might join in and help us know which is which...

What I meant is that Bob might help remember the FM issue in which the MKIII was featured... ;D

Hi Mike,

According to Bob, the plane in the magazine is the one he used to win the '78 World Champs.  His 1980 Genesis was very much different using a wing that is basically the same he is using in his Crossfire now.  The Fuselage was longer than the .46/Mk III but the wing is smaller.  Bob used the OS Max.40H in it.  Bob explained that in calm air the '80 was maybe the best stunt model he ever had, but in wind the rear of the fuselage was weak and would do funny things, twisting, etc..

Aaron has a set of cores from Bob for the '80 Genesis, which has never been published.

What a wonderful summary everyone.  I'm enjoying reading and learning.   :)  However, here's my quandry, one says it's legal and another says the wing core is patterned from an 80's varient, correct?   ???  If this is so, even if the fuse plan is legal wouldn't the wing be illegal thus the whole plane be ineligible?   ???

In other words if I take a $5 bill and mark a "0" after the 5 will get $45 in change??   ;)  (Just askin' cauz I sho' ain't that good enough to compete!!)  S?P

Okee dokee!  Got it!  So in theory, a fellow could build a May 70; Novi IV; C. David Gierke fuselage and mount a Feb 74; Genesis MK III; Bob Hunt; foam wing and it would be acceptable for an N30 event!!  I may not be able to fly it worth a darn, but it's shur' gonna' be purty!! ;)

In one word, NO.  If you can prove that a Novi IV was designed, built or flown before Jan 1, 1984 with a Genesis wing then it would be ok.

None of the models I have described, which ARE Nos. 30 eligible, bear any resemblance to the situation you are describing.

Over the years I have spent a lot of time talking with Bob Hunt, and I consider him to not only be a friend, but a "brother", and have asked about specific models on many occasions.  I sincerely thank Bob, once again, for being so open with his knowledge.
