Has anyone built this model? If so tell us about it - power, flying characteristics, weight etc.

The full scale version in this video got me thinking about Freeman's model. It's "identical" right down to the clipped wing tips.

Pat Johnston has a really nice spitfire design, might want to gander at his drawings,, ( which means emailing him)

The fuselage crossections are somewhat dubious as compared to scale .

Think its the one Dave murrel ( in Aus. ) and some kiwi guy flys F2B with .
though thats not what they say .

Though that might be more to do with other things , though I think its got a bit of weight .

Ive drawn up 5762 Spitfires , If you want to build a real one .


When I was 7 or 8 we wanted to build a Spitfire . Dad whipped up some Spuce Verneer , threw the shape on , and away we went .
" Thatsa all I did in the War . Id sit there drawing SPITFIRES " . Was at school in WWII . So thats why we won the War ,  Wink

I likely tossed too .

Got my Griffon fuse done for the Elip. Wing .

Spitfires on the Brain . Just found these , rare to see a MkV ( MERLIN ) with American Markings , in Silver , with a Red Spinner . Stir the pot


" A Spitfire V (serial number AR 404) of the 7th Photographic Reconnaissance Group at Mount Farm "

" Eagle Squadron Spitfire MK Vb Mount Farm 1944"


Will Flog the Rest of the Pictures , as its rare to se a U.S. invasion striped one also , though not as rare as above .











cant whine about the canopy detailing , with this here . The Photo Recosanance planes didnt have bullet proof windshields , or armament . Generally .

thats a Mk 11 , with a Small Carb Intake set up .

theres the link . if you click on a picture & when you get the photo , click return to photostream ' , you get a pile of mad scotsman at a rock n roll concert ,  but theres a few Spits in There ! .



The Varied hues & shades of blue in this one'd take some art to emulate . Mk 11 is sort of a hot rodded Mk 8 , two stage supercharged Merlin , longer nose than a MkV , between the exhausts & firewall .



Variations on rudders and carb intakes , A Mk 10 was similar , but presurised ,- no sliding canopy . they didnt make a dozen Mk 10s . But Many Mk 11s .

the teardrop blisters by the undercarrage legs cover the fuelpumps . The Whole front of the wing holds 90 gallons ( imperial ones - over 100 U.S. )

He Dosnt look old enough to drink , let alone be over Berlin at 30.000 feet .

Auch , Aye . We'll Thean . Wot would ye be wanting with thae fancey new airyoplanes then , a orse is more'n gaid enough for mae , lades .

Pat Johnston does indeed have a VERY ,very good design for the Spitfire. Yes I know that I did use caps. This one is 626 square inches with a very
good airfoil,dihedral, light under 60 ounces,and flies very, very ,very well. Also has a Rabe Rudder which works very well. This is hands down the
best flying airplane I have ever had. Mine uses RO JETT 67 RE . The Mark Freeman Spitfire looks awesome. Wish he still had it so we can see it.

Lots of neat Spitfire photos and models here!  This is my Spit stunter.  60" span and RO-Jett 61.  I drew up my own plans based on 3-views and photos.  Supposed to be a stunter, so not very much scale detail.  (I've just got to change those exhaust stacks...too small.  It's too late to add a pilot).
