'Nuther N30 design
« on: March 15, 2010, 09:04:14 PM »
Here's a killa-dilla N30 design. Bob Emmett's fabulously sexy "Ike". Originally powered by a ST .46, it would be sweet with one of the new rear exhausting Enya .61's.  I'd like to see a CAD guy draw it up and make it a PAMPA plan...maybe a laser cut short kit?   y1 Steve

Thanks Steve...for reminding us just how beautiful and rare...this model by Bob Emmett would be in Nostalgia.
Who can ever forget just how beautiful this model looked in flight against a rare PugetSound Dark Blue summer sky.
Although I have posted these old photos photos before on this website...I couldn't agree more just how beautiful this model by Meistro' Roberto' Emmetto' truly was.

(Sorry that my demented brain can't recall the name of the modeler  who built Bob's model and painted with some pretty stunning details...in bright Orange and yeller?)

HI Steve. I got a set of those plans from Bob a few years ago. I think the date on them is in the mid 70's, so yes, it it N30 legal.  Very, very complex plans of the ribs.  I have started on it, but it is on hold for a while. H^^

When Schultzie posted these pictures on the Stunt Geezer's Forum,  I emailed Bob and asked if plans were available. He replied "Yes" or something to that effect. A week later, a set of plans arrived by official government messenger, with a bill enclosed. With slight mods, it could be adapted to one of the Tom Morris wing structural systems. The thin sheet balsa tail surfaces with ribs on both sides is not a good structure!

I gotta admit that I like jet style stunters...with trike gears. But you just know that this thing would get more appearance points, given equal build/finish quality.  y1 Steve

WU...Would that be before or after Champione's F-86??? I've committed to the F-86, but retirement looms, and $$$ would become sparse. I'd trade F-86 futures for the Ike, tho. We need to check the date on the plans to confirm N30 legitimacy.  D>K Steve

Bob...I'm going to get the plans for the Ike over to Gardner's and see what he thinks about potential scan quality. The place we used to use has gone TU. He knows a place that can do it, but one set at a time is prohibitive there. More scans cuts the cost. I'll try to get with Dave this weekend.  y1 Steve

Uh, you might want these scanned. They're the originals...inked. Apparently, I can't remember chit! On the drawing, Bob says 590-odd sq. inches (the plans are in the truck to go scan tomorrow). It has dihederal! The LG could be done with a CF molding that would save a bunch of weight over wire. Beautiful plane!

Has Bob Emmett been asked??? He wrote that his had a G.21 .46 and that it flew quite well. Bob also wrote that he thought a .46LA would work well, but had "Saito .56??" written into the engine bay. Too heavy, I'd say. It has 1" longer inboard wing, according to another note on the plan.

So, I'm planning on getting them scanned onto a CD tomorrow, and I'll see if I can email it to you, Bob.  H^^ Steve

Shultzie...All I know about Bob Emmett is that he got his back surgery in AZ this winter, and got home to Sequim this Spring ok. Pete Peterson or Paul Walker would be the ones that might know.

However, Bob gave me one of his planes about 1.5 years ago, which I have yet to "need" to fly...not having crashed the "Keep Impacts Small & Simple!" yet...except for that one glancing blow on the outsides at TNA. Anyway, I could find a .46LA for it, and you can have it...IF YOU'LL COME OUT AND FLY WITH US!!!!  :!  Steve

I know this is old, but was wondering if anything ever came of getting plans drawn for the "IKE".  I have one of those Enya61RE's and also a Stalker51RE looking for a good N-30 design.  This design reminds me a lot of the Chevelle I built and liked a lot.

We got people over in the CAD forum that should be able to handle a set of plans. H^^
