Carl Goldberg P-40 - When?

Mike Londke and I visited a retired c/l flyer today and picked up some vintage stuff.
Along with hardware, I got a Sterling Mustang that cleaned up pretty nicely, below.
I also scored a Goldberg "Flying Tiger" P-40 kit (G-25 #34) and am wondering what years these were kitted.
Anyone know?

   The Goldberg P-40 has been around for a while. I will have to check out some magazines or see if I can reach my kit to check the dates, but I'm thinking mid to late 60's. The later versions showed how to convert them to R/C by putting radio gear in the wings. Its a neat, classic kit you just don't see many flying examples of. Might not be a NATS winner but looks pretty cool with a decent finish.

This is the R/C-able style kit.
No copyright date on any paperwork.

Unfortunately for us, we missed out on a recent modeller yard sale he held.
But we did OK for sure - most stuff was quite reasonable.

I'm thinking mid-late 70's for Goldberg P-40, very early 70's for Midwest P-40.

I'd expect this kit is listed in either the Classic or N-30 forums, thanks to many who did a lot of research. Ty Marcucci is one of the most devoted researchers. He must spend a lot of time in "The Library"!    Steve

It would have been in the 70's. Built one in the early 80's-not a particularly good flyer but nice looking. Maybe it would have worked better as a profile R/C model as shown on the plans.

I  first remember the P-40 in 74, I was in the AF and built one. I don't remember seeing them prior to that in the HS or mag ads, but then for the first couple years I was in I didn't do any modeling, only dreaming. I really liked it, flew it on a Stallion .35 that rattled like a Cat track!!!! I still have the plans, one of if not the only CG plan that had a full profile view, also showed RC conversion.

Goldberg 1/2A P-40 was introduced a lot earlier than the U/C-R/C 35 sized P-40. The 1/2 A P-40 was the first C/L model I built. Took it to a Circle Burners contest as a 10 year old and won a Buster kit. Built and flew that with a McCoy 35 that and was hooked on C/L ever since.

If you're referring to the Mustang Douglas, you're right.
This was bought used, said to have some repair history, and with a Fox .35/tongue muffler weighs in at 32 oz.
Had to add a bit of nose weight to get the balance where I think it's supposed to be.
Anyone have a measurement on the correct CG for the Mustang?

The design still has the looks from the late 1960's and is a nice flying sport plane. I believe it came out in the 1978. Dick Sarpolus did a review of the kit in the Model Airplane News magazine, March 1979 as a R/C C/L kit. Goldberg basically used a modified Shoestring wing with P-40 outlines and had some nice decals to go with it. Cool plane.
