CF Pushrod Wall Thickness

I found some CF arrows at Walmart and brought one home. it has an OD of 5/16" and a wall thickness of .025". Would this be strong enough for say a Vector 40 size plane? They do seem to have a little more flex than I thought they would but, still better than wire. Just worried about failure.

Are you sure they're carbon and not black fibreglass?

I've used Easton carbon arrow shafts before, but they were 8.1 grains per inch. These were the toughest I could buy, and even then I think they're a little bit flexy.

The arrow shafts that I have that are that size would certainly work -- but I'm pretty sure mine are, indeed, carbon.

Do they say they're made out of CF, or are they just black and made out of something fibrous?

Arrow shaft 'spine'...

Good Morning,

  Arrow shafts are sized/selected based on a numeric value indicative of their 'spine'.  The challenge is that while there is an industry standard (as developed by Easton archery) not all of the arrow shaft manufacturers us it to boldly label their arrow shafts.  In archery, spine = the amount of shaft deflection when a set weight (1.94 lb) is suspended from the mid-point of the shaft, with the shaft resting on two supports spaced 28" apart.  A 500 spine arrow would have a deflection of 0.500" when tested using the criteria mentioned, a 350 spine arrow would deflect 0.350", and so on.

  For our use, you are obviously going to want to select the lowest spine (shaft most resistant to bending) which you can find...

I guess you specify the length when you order? If so, that is a deal. I can't buy the parts for that much!
