Wish I could get out there but will be following the results on SH. I am a 'lone eagle' here but I have been talking the Fox event up and test flying at the field.    TS

We had 7 entries with 6 pilots with the Fox 35 speed event, the rules allow for multiple entries so John Moll entered two models. The weather was really nice for Late October in St Louis with Temps in the low 60's and minor winds but nothing that the Fox 35 speed models couldn't handle. We were flying until 4 pm due to the number of entries.

1) Bill Huges                 96.04 mph
2) John Moll                  95.14 mph
3) Jason Pearson           79.01 mph
4) John Moll                  71.98 mph
5) Fred Cronenwett       71.23 mph
6) John Garrett             67.20 mph
7) Bob Arata                 59.86 mph

Average speed was 77.20 mph so that award went to Jason Pearson

Now to download the pictures and get those posted. I flew my model with a stock Fox 35 that I bought on E-Bay. I have another Fox 35 and will be building a 2nd model. I hope that they add this event to the Brodak event, it really is lots of fun because any Fox 35 powered model can fly. John Garrett was flying a Ringmaster that has been flown in Old Time Stunt.

Here in St Louis we hold Fox 35 Speed in Feb, May, Oct for 2016

Thanks for the post. It's great to see what the 'good guys' are doing with these things! I have yet to fly with 'official lines', so wont post practice speeds except to say we are close. I'm pretty sure that if we get enough response from the Fox nuts we can get Mr. Brodak to include this event for 2016. Look forward to the pictures!  TS

John Garrett flying his Ringmaster, not as fast but helps lower the average speed. if held at Brodak contest they need to advertise to the guys flying stunt that they can fly their old time stunt models powered with a Fox 35 stunt. The Lafayette Esquadrille had a set of .016 solid lines available for anyone who wanted to enter the event but didn't have the lines.

We have found that people are afraid to enter because they don't have a set of solid lines so we make a set of lines available for those who do not have a set.

Have we come up with a line size for Fox 35 speed?

I would suggest .018" x 60' minimum, any metal lines.

This event is really fun....and this is coming from a pilot who normally flies large CL scale models with throttle control. The wingspan of my Fox 35 speed model is smaller than the elevator on some of my large CL scale models. It took a lot of restraint for me to build such a small model and NOT put throttle on it. great event that allows any model to be flown and almost everybody has one of these motors.

this is Bob Arata's model that he flew in the event, made from a old policital sign, yard stick and basic parts

I hope they add this to the Brodak contest, I will post pictures of the Perky models on Thursday

The rules that John Moll came up with has .016 solid lines, 60 radius. John picked solid lines since it's a speed event and all of the speed events are flown with solid lines
