Just got back to Texas last night and havent had time to reply.
Dad always talked about his trick of flying 3 Cox PT-19s at once: one in each hand and one in his teeth. While I have never seen this feat performed
I did see a picture posted on here of Joe Gilbert flying two ringmasters at once.
Last tuesday I was doing some demo rat-racing with Kelsey Brewer, fellow Kidventure vollunteer and Air Force counterpart. We were in a dead heat--I dont think either of us passed each other in the air--and like so many other races, it was won in the pits. So the idea popped into my head and we took off again, and once in the air she handed her handle off to me. Dave got about half of the flight on video.
It took ALOT of concentration! Between slightly breezy conditions and rotorwash from the Bell 47s giving rides at the airport, allot of correcting was needed.
Dave mentioned the lines were different sizes. Someone who refused to identify themselves
set aside some 37' lines to give Kelsey an edge, but lost track of which lines were which and put them on my model instead. We didnt realize it till after I flew my double-fister move and lined both airplanes up nose-to-tail.
For those who have never been, it really is a fun week; its a great way to get into the Airventure grounds on the cheap as well as inspiring the eager young aviators and aviatrixs (and UAS operators!) of tomorrow. I highly recommend putting it on your to-do list!
