Fox .29 Stunt P/S interchangeable?
« on: July 04, 2015, 03:40:09 PM »
Hi All,

I want to run a sandcast Fox .29 stunt in my Guillows Barnstormer.  It runs, OK but is a bit down on compression.  I have a later '60s model .29 Stunt (looks just like the .35 Stunt) that has great compression.  Will the piston/sleeve from the newer one drop in the sandcast case and give me a better sandcast .29??

Thanks!

I've heard it said that you can keep old Fox 35's going with parts from newer models, - a tribute to a continuous line since 1948.
Maybe the same applies to 29's? Or even, - it it's just a case of thick or thin cylinders, maybe a 35 p/c would really cheer your 29 up  ;) (Guess that would also mean a different head).
I think the real answer is you'll have to check.
Let us know?

Chrome plate the liner and lap the piston to suit?

That's going to get you a better engine though.

Hi Chris,

That would definitely be my first choice but I cannot find anyone who does chroming work anymore.

Thanks!
