What is this "practice" you speak of? I thought you were naturally awesome?

Derek

Well, yeah! I'm glad you recognize that!  :)  :)

Hasn't Randy preached to you about practice?? I will have to talk to him about this situation.

This is a cool down for us, it's been triple digits all month...

I flew when it was around 108-109 last weekend, and 62 yesterday. I detected a slight difference in the control sensitivity.

Wholly Cow! 'guess I'd better get out of the shop and get practicing the ol' fiddle. OTOH, if I finish up my ancient project so I can get back in the air, maybe I won't have the Texas clan after me. Hmmmm...

maybe Paul is talking about practicing his snickers
I know my day at the ranch gave him enough oppurtunity to practice snickering,, but hey,, I am what I am,,

I know between here and Muncie my skills will hone to perfection,, ( well for Advanced anyway)

I like to see daily still pictures from the Nats.

BTW I have it from a reliable source that Bob Hunt will be at the Nats. He will probably be  flying his twin and coaching Buddy Wieder. Glad to see that Bob is feeling much better.

Bob will also doing the daily AMA Nats report for stunt events.

Wish I could be there.

Tell Ben thanks for the offer but I must decline. I will be responsible for my own outcome from now on. I am able to blame last years draw on Layla my own daughter I would hate to do that to somebody else's child.  LL~

Derek

You are going to blame your finish on your 6 year old's draw....  Wow!!

pssssst I am not going to let her draw for me either....  or maybe I should then I can blame my defeat on her and not my crappy flying against pilots like Dave and BB and PW and you....  hmmmmm  that's a thought...

John we can't get on the LPad until Sunday afternoon.  We CAN use the grass circles starting Friday,  where I shall be at the starting bell.  Might need an outboard to get out of KC.....Trax tells me rain there tomorrow so hope the grass will dry out before Friday morning.

I thought there were no conflicts this year? I was under the assumption that we were going to have access to the L pad on the 13th unlike the past years?

Derek I'm not sure now.  They ARE flying RC scale aerobatics on site 3 , then Pylon over the weekend so maybe the pad can be used- but I doubt before Friday.  Guess we'll find out.  I knew they moved CL scale but not RC.   Wonder how much interference we'll have on finals Friday and Saturday when they'll be flying scale on site 3.  Overflight issues again I bet.

In Laramie as we speak.  It's cold here, and with Seattle in the 90s I didn't think to pack a long sleeve shirt.  If the AMA site is unavailable, maybe we can stop at Omaha or Davenport and put in a few.

I just read the NASA newsbrief, they are saying their one manuevor is forbidden for their first round of scale so they won't interfere with the L pad.  Here's what is in their latest newsbrief:
"After much thought and discussion with the NASA board and with AMA, I have decided that we will eliminate the Figure 8 as a mandatory maneuver this year in R/C Scale. The contestants will need to add another optional maneuver to replace it.

For the first round, the Figure 8 will not be allowed at all. I will instruct the judges to notify a contestant to change the maneuver if the 8 has been included on their score sheet for the first round.

We will have an extended lunch break on Saturday to make sure the control line guys are finished before the start of the second round.

Starting with the second round and every round thereafter, the Figure 8 can be used as an optional maneuver (for those of you who like to fly it). Hopefully by the second round the Control Line guys should be finished at the L-pad and we can resume our normal flight patterns.

During the first round, we still need to be cognizant to not over fly the L-pad as much as possible. If you cannot keep from over flying the L-pad, at least keep the aircraft as high as possible in that area. I will notify the contestant if I get complaints from the Control Line area about the over flights. I will make the call on an individual basis as to what needs to be done."

Now, back to me, (Will), I am not sure of the date they're talking about, it might just be during the Walker cup, but it seems to me if they'll do this for scale, they should accomodate stunt for the whole week, dontcha think?

Whatever guys, fly safe and enjoy the nats.
Everyone enjoy the nats, fly safe!!

Can't we just use your random number generator for the draw?  It would go much faster and Layla would not be implicated in the outcome.

That's still not as bad a flight order as I drew last time I was there. I drew 1st in three of the four qualifying rounds. Can't even blame Layla for that one.

First on-site report:  I hit town about an hour ago and went out to AMA.  Good news and bad news;  good news is we will be able to use the LPad starting tonight although it's blocked off right now.  Bad news is the grass area is sopping wet- standing water in spots.  I talked to the full time grounds keeper and he says it's too soft for the grass road in there and hopes it will dry enough he can mow it again by Sunday.  He mowed last week but said it's rained here pretty solid for three weeks (sounds like home).  If you are going to fly there you might have to park on gravel somewhere and carry it in.  Overcast here now and 68 degrees.  Don't think Brenda is here yet.  About all for tonight.
Found out Days Inn thought it chick to remove mini fridges and microwaves so off to Walmart to buy something to cook my meals in....and water. Have a heck of a nice day.

Raining here now.  Matt the explanation I got was they had a limited number to be had upon request.  Some corporate group (maybe Trump) requested them all.  If you need to heat your beans bring them to 215.  That resident just got a great new Hamilton Beach that I might not find room to haul home.

Then we can have a super-long thread on how computer-generated random numbers are really not "random" and favor certain "selected" candidates, after which I try to acquire some Americium 241 and a GeLi detector, and then have Tim Wescott can lecture us all how we are using it incorrectly! Such fun.
