This is mainly for our Shug Emery who I haven't seen here for a while. Would this be allowed at some contest sites?

Given the time of year etc., I would expect Shug to be pretty busy performing.

Hey, I wonder how those guys in the picture got my tent!

It's easy to tell they didn't trust the brakes on that old car...Put it right where it would hit a tree and not the tent.

I camped at the Joe Nall control line contest.

It was GREAT!!!

The GTC has amazing room for a small car. I was able to bring my camera kit, a tent, two sleeping bags, one foam ground pad, a cooler, food, beer, wine, my Nobler, fuel, oil, tools, a folding chair, a book, a charcoal grill, flashlights, towels, a bathroom kit, toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates and cups, flatware, various camping stuff like bug spray, first aid, some spare car parts, etc.
The stuff that isn’t in the picture is still in the car.

Really had a great time.

I would have put all my junk in the tent, and slept in the GTC... preferably with the A/C and stereo running...

A lot of folks "camp" at VSC, if you call sleeping and eating in an airconditioned 40 ft motor home "camping".

I only camp when I go out to kill Bambi, or Thumper!

Yes, tents are welcome , no hookups, just porta johns, the tent area is across the road from JOHN's home , some people camp in clearing under the trees adjacent to the road too

Thanks for the thought Doc. I have been busy with shows and promo videos and rehearsal of late. Especially since we lost our flying field. We do have a club flying event this weekend. Discover Aviation Days get to fly for the public. First time in over a month. I'll video too.

We have a BLAST camping across the street from the event.Real campers don't need hookups and if you can live with that come on down and join us.Lots of flying fun after the days events are finished.Ya never know when Danny is gonna fire up the jet!!!

That first photo sure reminded of a camping trip my daughter and I went on for a vacation Ha. Decided to take a pup tent and my Subaru to Kings Canyon and Yosemite for some farther daughter time when she was a freshman in high school. We did OK for about 4 days, on the 5th day I had had enough, found a motel and a restaurant for some food I didn't have to cook over a camp fire and a soft place to sleep. It was fun and 35 years later she still talks about it but that was the last time I slept in a tent and the end of my camping days.

No pup tents for me .... a few years ago, I upgraded from an 8 person to a 10 person. 2 rooms, no-see'em screens and the roof without rain fly is completely open to the stars.

Easily fits a queen-size, double-high air mattress on one side, and can walk all the way around the mattress without having to duck

Love camping in a tent ....

Not to take away from the other pictures, we also camp at a lot of airplane related events each year, but that first picture is COOL.

Larry- I also bought a huge tent, makes life great and setting up the tents is so easy. We leave in about a week to Yakima for an Aero Tow event and I need to buy a double stack air mattress and new camp BBQ. I'm getting to old to sleep so low to the ground.

Hi Bill....Quite a rig. In the 70's when our girls (3 of them) were young we had a Winnabego...Not quite that big! The girls called it "The Brown Whale". However whenever we camped anywhere the girls always wanted to sleep in a tent...which Old Dad had to put up (of course)...usually, if we were anywhere near the "woods", by 11PM the girls (at least the two youngest) were begging Old Dad to come and sleep in the tent also because they heard lots of noises. So Old Dad nearly always left the comfy environment of the "Winnie" and wound up sleeping on a mostly flat airmattress in the dammed tent! Especially if it was cold. I used to call it my very very very expensive "tent on wheels".

You can't get ahead with kids!

Haven't I seen that rig at VSC?

Hi, Randy;

Yes, we come to VSC every year in it. Stay in a nice RV park just a few miles from the flying field. Once or twice, back in the Cabin Fever days, we would bring it to the park and stay there during the racing event.

If y'all come to the NATs, you will find us parked on the AMA site where they have hook-ups. Real nice to sleep in your own bed on your own sheets and not have to eat out every meal. Get up in the morning and watch the RC Pylon guys getting a bit of practice in, and then the long drive (about 5 minutes

) over to the CL pads.

We use it when we go to Topeka or Houston or wherever else there is a contest around.
