Northwest Regionals Weather
« on: May 19, 2015, 01:37:37 PM »
Roseburg looks *pretty darn good* for this weekend. Given that it's southwestern Oregon in the late spring, nothing could possibly go wrong with the weather forecast. So, no excuses, the Windmill inn awaits.

I'll see you there.  I'll be the guy lowering the property values in the Expert pits with a severely overweight and long in the tooth Twister.

So, no excuses even for the guys in Florida?

I'll try not to traipse across everyone's lines in the Expert pits this year, like I did in 2013 when I was flying Intermediate.  Actually, if the arrangement is going to be similar to what it's been in Eugene, I might go out and buy some traffic cones.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Be careful where you put them.

Don't bother with the cones. Howard uses duct tape.  LL~ Steve

Southern Oregon weather forecasts this time of year are solid gold. I would have to say, at this point, that nothing could possibly go wrong!

Ted did, sorta.  He let one ride along in his engine air intake.

I'll bet that had a serious damping effect on the sound of both the Bee and the Engine!   y1

The NW Regionals locale in Roseburg has hidden advantages.  Temperatures in Roseburg are typically several degrees warmer than the former locale a bit farther north in Eugene.  You just might see me without my signature jacket this year?

You just had to say that, didn't you?  First someone tempts fate, and then there's balsa bits scattered all over the practice field (not my balsa bits, fortunately, but still, bits of a former control line airplane).

https://weather.yahoo.com/us/or/roseburg-2484630/

The weather service here in Tucson brags that they have a 35% correct average of prediction farther than one day away!

You could do better than that by simply saying it coing to be very warm and sunny with a 6 mph wind out of the SE every day of the year.  That would be correct about 80% of the time and they can't match that!

Ergo...I have very little faith in weather service predictions.  The Farmers Almanac does better and they use witchery (or something).  LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~

If it's as warm as predicted, I can use my 3-blade prop.  If it gets cool, I won't have enough battery energy, so I'll have to revert to the 2-blader.

We just arrived in Roseburg at about you 6 pm from central CA.  Rain all the way from just of Redding to Roseburg.   Some places a drizzle,  some a major down pour.  Looking forward to the weekend and seeing all the pilots.

Hey Shawn,
It's only Wednesday.  You can't fly yet can you?  I'm leaving tomorrow morning but won't get into Roseburg until Friday morning.  Paul is going to put me to work judging OT on Friday and either profile or classic on Saturday.  Looking forward to seeing all the California guys.

You can afford appearance points but not a bigger battery?
