Really nice looking bones. I like that rib layout, I've never built one like that. Seems like a good way to make it strong and straight without a spar. I look forward to seeing it fly. Transparent covering would look nice on it.

Test fit of engine, tank and landing gear. Weight is 37 ozs. Wing will be covered in Ultracote. I should be well  within the recommened flying weight.

Thanks John,  I've really taken my time with this one and I hope it serves me well as I enter the world of stunt this year. Mike

Walter Umland kits a Sakitumi 25, which I have one of with LA25 in it. Not sure a 15 would be enough, but if you only mean "a smallish engine" this would fit the bill.

A Sakitumi with an LA .25 should be a good match for young Sam, if built light and you don't lean the engine out to a racing setting.   He just may surprise you with flying of that combination.   My son was racing .35 slow rat planes when he was 11 and he said it didn't pull hard enough.

Finished the Sakitumi. Hopefully get to fly it this weekend. The lighting is bad so the pics don't really show the color that well, its translucent red Ultracote. Looks great in the sunshine. If we ever get any here.

Mike,

Ya gotta love any model covered so the wood frame shows.

Especially with neat construction.

Thanks, John. Next up Samuel and I will be building a Jr. Ringmaster. He put up a couple flights last Saturday and one of the guys was so tickled he gave Samuel a Fox .15. I have the kit in my stash so we'll do this one together.

Hey Mike, all of them are right, it really is a great looking plane. I've wanted to use transparent covering, but so far haven't made one with pretty enough bones. It looks like a perfect stunt trainer too. I think someone who's as skilled as you are at combat will be a really quick study at picking up stunt. Good luck. I know I asked before, but I forgot, are you flying Beginner again, or moving into Intermediate?

See you in a couple of weeks,
Rusty

Thanks Rusty, My plan was to learn the full pattern and fly intermediate. However we have had bad weather and I only flew for the first time this year last Saturday. That leaves me just 2 weekends to learn the full pattern on a new airplane. So I am not sure what will happen. Either way I am looking forward to seeing everyone at Huntersville and a long week-end of flying.
