A building buddy of mine and I decided to build a couple of Torquettes for fun in-between working on other major projects. We have a pair of reverse rotation Tee Dees for them. It's a cute design. Here's mine so far.

I believe it was designed for 1/2A Proto speed by the late and great Dale Kirn.

John, you are correct. That's why I posted in this section. I believe The Knights of The Round Circle Club in California still fly a Torquette speed event in honor of Mr. Kirn.

Fred, to my knowledge Torquette was never kitted. It's a pretty straightforward scratch build, except for the aluminum fuselage doubler. Fortunately I know someone with a metal shear, which made cutting out our doublers easy. I'll use a standard bellcrank with small Brodak lead-out connectors. This is really a sport /speed model for us.

That aluminum doubler could be cut very easily (but not very quickly) using a coping saw and a bench pin (basically a 1x4 sticking off the bench with a fork shape sawn into the end)

Looks like a bit of fun.

The KOTRC in conjunction with the C/L Speed flyers of SoCal hold Muciano Hollow Log and Torquette Proto speed at the December Toys For Tots meet.
I fly my CS, with a LH crank, powered Torquette in 1/2 A Proto occasionally and have posted better than 90 mph on the contest 10% fuel.
Most of the guys that have used standard RH rotation have crashed. The alternative is to fly clockwise with a RH crank.
