New Purple Stunter build for a Fox .15
« on: March 01, 2015, 03:21:34 AM »
This is the
'build-up note" to announce the newest release from the Purple Plane Factory!

The new plane began as  ship to use a recently acquired Fox .15, in great looking condition. It was just gonna be a swoopy design on a profile fuselage- then I got rid of my thinking cap, and began adding more stuff! Now, the gear is in the wing, the fuselage got fat and curvy, and the paint job leaves something to be desired. But... It will work! I named it 'KONKER' , like Conquer, because I'm going to use it to get over my fear of Reverse Wingovers.

Picture in a minute!
And a side view.

I will build it. It's gonna be really difficult to find me with an ARF. I know every bit of my airplane!

Looks cool, like the paint job. Think positive on the reverse wing-over. #^ #^ #^

Is that the Fox 15 schneurle?  If so the bolt on venturi is a bit fragile.  I've got a case out in the shop that could pass for NOS except the venturi mounting tabs were nicely torn off the case in a crash.  I seem to remember reading something along the lines of replacing the venturi mounting screws with nylon screws, so they'd give in the event of a crash instead of destroying the case.  Just something to consider...

The plane looks great and I  like the color scheme.   The reverse wing  over is what got me to doing out side squares.

Wiggle, wiggle, splatt!   Nope, never done that myself.  Not even once.  Or twice.  Regardless what anyone tells you.   ~>

Better make sure that you give that new engine some run in time. It is a Fox you know.

     Hi Doug et. al.:

The Fox .15 BB is a nice engine. To prevent damage to  the venturi due to a poorly executed landing, I did the following on my Fox .15 BB engines.

I cleaned the case and venturi and then waxed the case.  I made up a small bridge of metal filled epoxy and placed it between the venturi and crankcase.  This may help protect the venturi from crash damage.

The reason that I did not wax the venturi is that I wanted a surface that would provide a purchase for the epoxy and still be able to remove the venturi with ease.  The epoxy will not adhere to the waxed surface.

                                                                         Good luck,

                                                                         Frank McCune
