Advice for an Anderson (or Atwood) Triumph 49.
« on: February 01, 2007, 09:39:37 PM »
A few years ago I picked up an old tin cookie box with an assortment of old glow engines, including a couple Wen-Mac 049s, an OK Cub 049 diesel, a Forster ringed 35, and an engine the folks at the 2004 Toledo show identified for me as the above 49.  Also at the show I was able to buy the missing components to complete it.
My questions are,
can anyone reccomend a design for this engine, with the bolt on tank?  Or suggest an appropriate size plane, tank, and wing area so I design one of my own?
I was thinking of using about an 11-4 or 5 prop.  Does that sound about right?
I imagine the fuel should be equivalent to Fox Superfuel, or at least 25% oil.
Does anybody have an idea about how long the engine will run on the attached bullet shaped tank?
The funniest part was, they told me that one in worse condition went for over $250.00 at the auction the previous evening.  The whole box, with something like 9 engines, only cost me $20.00.

Well, You didn't really need to say it cost $20!!
Anyway, you might think about George Liebs 'Trimphant'  OTS design published in ?Air Trails?....  A bit small and thin wing, but it was designed around the Triumph.   Charlie Bruce had one at VSC several years ago.  George is still quite active in the Omaha area.
