Any chance you can "CLEAR UP THAT CRAP", MIKEEEE?  n~
I am more than sure that rumor came from one of our old CLPA bud's who has lived many years in Lost Wages Calif.
Here is one beautiful looking and flying model of Jack's that he flew to perfection at the nats and as you can see he was a HUGE HIT WITH THE NAVY!

Okay, so what was the name of that blue plane in the picture?  I don't recall seeing that one before.  But, of course, considering the number of stunt designs that Jack pumped out, maybe I can't have expected to.  I have lots of the old FMs with his designs in them - they are still great reading.  I liked his F3H Demon.  Did it fly well?

To clear things up Jack uses Shirley's old email address: sasheeks@sbcglobal.net and Shirley uses jssheeks@gmail.com
for her email address.

I will ask Jack Tuesday night to identify the Blue model.
About two weeks ago Jack had 2 more Stents inserted bringing his total to 9.

I was going to guess that the model sorta resembles an F-5 Freedom Fighter, and I think he did a design called the Freedom, did he not? have to look that one up when I get home.

From the reflections on the leading edge it looks like an I-beamer.  Jack must have been a master at cranking out I-beam wings as a lot of his planes had them.  I really liked his originality and wish he were still designing and building stunt ships.  We had a club member, David Reas, that loved Jack's designs and built a bunch of them.  He really did nice work.  David passed away a few years ago and we still miss him.  He was a great guy and a great builder.

I beam wing planes are the easiest to build and align one you have done it once. Now you know how jack could build one plane a month. At least it seemed that way.

Does anyone know the total count of stunt ships he designed?  It must be in the dozens!  Is there a list?

I would just guess at 1 a month for 30 years  LL~ I called Jack again and he said he started building in the late forty's and published his first Aug 1963 which was a Stuka. 62 published articles.

I believe jack published a plane called the Freedom 45.  That blue jet style is similar to the Asheeks which was a joint effort between Jack and Bernie Ash.  My cousin owns the remains of the Asheeks along with another of Jack's planes called the "Profile That Isn't" which was a Jap tissue covered plane resembling an Ares.

Dick:

Is there any way you could post pictures of those ships?

Part of the fun of Jack Sheeks' designs was that he wasn't locked into the same thing all the time.  It seemed like he just tried everything (like his Jetliner) and it was always a surprise to open FM and to see his latest.  Sometimes today's top of the line stunt ships look a bit same-old, same-old.  That's probably also why so many of us like the Al Rabe ships.  After seeing too much "generic" it's fun to see a little  "unique and different".

I sent the three pictures shown above to Jack and asked him to identify the models.

Jack's reply: The model I am carrying off the circle is a Flybaby.   The jet looking one had no name yet, it was brand new. Just called it jet.

PS. I qualified the Flybaby Bad Fuel dropped to fourteenth.

Scott, I am sorry I don't have any pix.  The two planes (or the remains) are owned by my cousin who goes back and forth between Maryland and Florida.  He is a retired US Navy Rear Admiral and moved many times during his Naval career, meaning his possessions were packed and unpacked many times.  I think the planes are in Maryland right now and he is in Florida.  The last time I saw them was in the mid 80's.  I think the Asheeks had been crashed and the Profile That Isn't had severe hangar rash.  I don't think my cousin ever flew it.

I'm curious about the "blue jet". It has almost nothing for a horizontal stab, and the elevator area looks to be about double what the stab is. I wonder what the thinking was behind that? Might not have cornered very well and that is why it wasn't named or published. Looks neat, though and you could understand why it would be a hit with the Navy personel at the time. I think everyone flew models that looked like jets and had "NAVY" on them it seems like! Part of the history of the event, and I sure wish I could have participated in a "Navy Nats".
I have plans for the Flybaby and like that a lot also. That one should be N-30 legal easily.
