« on: January 20, 2015, 04:45:22 PM »
     Hi:

Did the ST G15/.19 engine have a flat top piston or a baffled piston?

                                                                    Tia,

YES  ;D .

The G15 / 19 FI is a 16 x 16 version of the G-15 FI ( with the bypass knocked in with a nuber stamp ' 19 ',
though some have the 19 on the mount edge and retain the ' 15 ' .

They came out about 65 , so theres various cases , though to the R/C square & round 72 odd on case with
the muffler mounts . Theres ALSO a G15/19 CAR , with single BR , front Bush , and 1/4 prop shaft instead of 5m.m.
the other internals are the same .

Theres also a ( rare ? ) G 20 19 , similar to the G 20 23 , with baffled piston ?? maybe ?? .

R/C one , CAR version looks same bar crank nose . G 21 collet and G 20 prop driver fits .

1965 odd sucker .

=============================================================

Id presume  :o a FINNED head on one of these ( G 20 ) was BAFFLED , and plain - flat top . maybe . >:(

Stamp on the  mount .

cept its a X , unless its got a G 15 exhaust port , in which case its a X case G-15/19 ( yea , theres such a thing -
as a X 15 / 19 anyway ) Real X's have narrow square Ex. Port .

     Hi:

From what I can determine, the G 20 .19 and .23 engines had a baffled piston with a single rear bearing. The G 20 .15 had a flat top piston. I have a G 20 .15D that that has a flat piston and several G 20 .23 engines that have baffled pistins.

The G 15 engines had flat top pistons in the .15 and .19 displacements or did the .19 have a baffled piston?

Am I correct in thinking this way?

                                                                               Tia,

I had six G15's, all flat top pistons.

They didn't perform all that well, unless under-propped so they over-revved.  Then they ran good until the rear bearing self-destructed.  We were never able to find a heavy duty upgrade.

The upgraded bearing were found inside Rossi, Cox and Nelson engines.
