Need some 7/64" wire
« on: December 10, 2014, 11:28:08 AM »

Fellows I am looking for some 7/64" wire to make landing gear, so I need to be able to bend it and it needs to have some spring in it also.
 Thanks for your help...

That's an exceedingly oddball size -- why not 3/32" or 1/8"?

If you absolutely must have that size, try McMaster-Carr or Amazon.  There's a good chance you'll find it sized in mils -- 7/64" is 0.109", I found some 0.110" stuff on McMaster, but there's multiple options, all of which will require you to think through your assumptions.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Tim thanks for the reply/question, I am building a 15 size model that I'm gonna put a .10 engine on and 3/32" might be too small and 1/8" will be too large.
Thanks for the heads up on Mc Carr

In bygone days it was not uncommon to see the 3/32 wire with a 1/16 wire brace wrapped & soldered.

Hi Gil,

I do believe you can use 3/32 and maybe add a spreader bar.  I have always used 3/32 on .15 size models.

I have some .105" music wire in 12" lengths.  If that works for you I'll send you a few pieces.
