UHP kitted it for awhile, sell plans, and I think you can get laser cut ribs from them.  H^^ Steve

I fly with Tom Farmer every saturday here in Fort Worth. I'll ask him. I know he has the 46 size plans, he told me so. He is flying a beautiful red and black one now with an OS LA 46. I didn't know there was 40 size. Is it a little smaller?...or the same?

There are actually two versions.  The original had a solid plywood nose.  Because of the extra weight, it requires a .46.  The Later version had a conventional nose and only required a .40.

Tom claims that the plywood nose flew better.  I had one that I flew for 15 years.  I'm buiiding a new one with the solid plywood nose.  It is one of the original Custom Models kits.

I have a Custom Models Kits of the Forerunner. It has a solid plywood nose? I'll have to pull that one down and check that out. That was a popular design a few years back. Was it ever published?

Dan,

It may have either.  The first run of the Custom Models kit had the solid ply nose.  The second run had the conventional nose, probably because "P40" was becoming a popular event at the time.

Hi Gil. No, I won't make it this year.  1,000 miles round trip is getting to be a tad much. Seems the more I fly, the worse I do, so I'm getting out of contests for a year, selling most of my stuff.  H^^

I'd consider going to the El Dorado contest, but would be too afraid of going to the wrong El Dorado. I ate and stayed the one in Kansas in 2012, but didn't see anybody flying stunt.  :o Steve

At one time El Dorado KS had their own flying circle in town at the city park.   Flew my first carrier contest there.   This was after the main contest was done at the air port out side of town.   They said the little lady that lived across the street from the airport would leave town for the week end so they could have their contest without bothering her.   Often wonder if it is still there in the park.
