The Original Tutor

I have been searching for a good picture of the Original TUTOR.  Not the Larger Tutor 2 ARF.  The attached picture is, I believe, an original Tutor that he is holding but I am not for sure.

If anyone has a picture of one, could you please post it?

Hi Mike,
It certainly looks like an original Top Flite Tutor.  I built one in the early 1970's when I first returned to CL after a hitch in the Army and a couple of years flying R/C.

It was a good flying airplane and easy to build.  Are you thinking of kitting it?  Some of the construction in the original Top Flite kit was a little strange but worked OK.

Eric and I are working together on a project together and this model will be one of the designs that will be offered.
We are ironing out the final details and hope to have it ready shortly.  I was looking for a good picture of it to use.

I built one with the Dave Hemstrought mods which appeared in an early '80s Model Airplane News.  I believe he shorted the tail moment and added 1/4" to the LE of the flaps.  No turtledeck.

Fox .35 and it was easily the best flying model off the board I've owned.

It will be neat to see the Tutor available again.   

Seems like it is a pretty capable smaller sized stunt plane that flies well....and fits nicely in the trunk of a smaller car!   

8.375" Nose, 8.75" Root chord, 15.375" Hinge to Hinge.

  Search this list for a thread by Eric Rule about a kit he is making available. I  go tone from him already. His biggest change to it was lengthen the tail by an inch. There was also a write up in one of Ted Fancher's Model Aviation columns about a modified version that Jim Armour did, very nice looking airplane as you would expect from Jim.
