Baton Rouge Contest The Best Ever
« on: October 19, 2014, 07:11:28 PM »
I just got home from the Baton Rouge Contest and of all the years I have attended, this was the best yet.  My congratulations to Doug Patterson, Gil Causey and the many more who made this contest happen.  We had 60 people at the awards dinner Saturday night and enjoyed some great seafood and a lot of fun fellowship.  I am sure Doug or someone who produced the contest will post the results.

Tom Morris and I set up our "stores" along with Tom Dixon and the patronization from our fellow flyers was generous and appreciated.  Eric Rule had an earlier post about the Take Apart Ringmasters I took and they went fast.  I was extremely happy that Andy Chase, the owner of Hobby Town hobby shop, placed an order for several of them for his Hobby Shop.  Andy is one of the nicest men I have ever known and all of us in the Baton Rouge/New Orleans area support him all we can.  He always donates nice items for the drawings.

If you have never attended this contest, try to make it next year.  I guarantee you will have a wonderful time.  These folks know how to run a contest.

Mike we sure do thank you for the kind words and those "take apart" Ringmasters were super nice, good concept.

Sat we had 21 contestants and somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 flights, and Sunday I think that I counted 11-12 expert fliers and about the same in advanced, someone correct me if I am wrong.

We had fliers from Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas, and they sure seemed to have had a good time.

The weather couldn't have been better either, mid fifties A M, low to mid 80's in the afternoon, oh we also had a flier from Mooseup Conn, as well as a flier (transplant) from New Hampshire.

It was a great contest, and we want to take this time to invite everyone to next years Fun time...

Heard a rumor that an Okie with a Ringmaster did pretty good on Saturday.

What a contest!  I was only able to attend on Saturday, but I shot almost 3,000 photos.  Stand by for a lot of photos...

Hey, that Okie kicks butt where ever he goes it seems.  I can remember when I first saw him with an ARF Nobler if I remembe right.  That man loves to fly and has one of the best pit person ever.   Can't even get my wife to hold the door for me let alone an airplane.

I have been to around ten contests in Baton Rouge since 1999 or so, and never any bad weather, no high winds, just lots of fun. Except this time. A pinched nerve in my right hand, a gout attack and a hole in one fuel tank, and nothing went right. But the people were all great and the weather was unbelievable. Sun and gentle breeze at your back more often than not. Worth the long trip every time. H^^ y1 #^

Geeze! The only thing you didn't have...was me being there to give you a hard time.  <=
We had planned on being there, but some last minute "happenings" came up.
Hope to see you on the first. I'll make sure the grass is nice and smooth.
