Here are results of the CL scale contest today, I will attach more pictures later this weekend!

we did not have any entries in the Profile Scale Non-Military category this year

Frank Beatty won the NASA Flight Achievement award since this was a qualifier for the NASA Scale classic that will be held in 2 weeks

How do you take a shot like that and stop a plane in motion?

I see many nice photos like this one.

You have to pan with the moving object and then set the camera to Aperture priority so that the shutter speed is 1/500 sec or faster. The model is in focus while the trees in the background is blurred because the camera is moving to get the picture.

We have homemade special awards and this included Shrek, Batman and Family guy flying a CL model, but the Dinosaur didn't like what we were doing so he decided to eat one of the models....We didn't argue with him

John Rist showed up with three models, he flies with a custom handle that has the 2.4 Ghz guts from a RC car handle put into a special box on the handle. He uses a slide pot on the front of the box to control the throttle instead of using the traditional trigger

Lou Matustik, Grant hiestand and myself hang the 2.4 Ghz transmitter on our hips, both methods work great

John flew the White LA 5 in the picture fore ground

Sparky brought out his Shoestring that he is working on and demonstrated the sound system on his model, Grant also had a sound system on his Spacewalker

John Moll had the neat trim look going on, while Dan McEntee had another look all together

The wind kicked up by noon on Sunday but everyone had a great time and we appreciated everyone who drove the distance to come to the contest

Saturday the winds were about 8-10 MPH, but on Sunday the wind got gusty after lunch so flying was done by 1:30. It wasn't cold (almost hot) so the wind was the only problem on Sunday

Most fun I have ever had at a scale contest!

The staff at the Broken Arrow CL Scale run a first class contest. I brought 3 airplanes but the reason I really came was to fly the DO-335 twin and it flew great! So my week end was a total success. I may return next year and just bring the 1/2A. I am getting too old to deal with the big airplanes.

Anyway thanks for a great weekend.
