Brodak Smoothie: bellcrank output hole
« on: August 31, 2014, 12:03:32 AM »
The instruction text doesn't seem to say which hole on the output arm of the bellcrank to use on my Brodak Smoothie. The bellcrank is connected by a short pushrod to the flap horn, which in turn is connected to the elevator by a longer pushrod.

A photo is not quite clear, but looking at it I think I should use the middle one of three. Can anyone confirm?

Don't the plans show the bell crank top view?   I usually go the closest hole to the pivot point.

There are no plans with the kit. I used the centre bell crank output hole.  So far the model handles well - after bringing the lines closer on the handle (compared to my Cardinal set up) - but not tried square manoeuvres yet.

The ARG I built in 07' had some sort of pot metal for the horns, they started to walls out. I wound up bushing the elevator and flap horn with brass tube. The plane flies great with a Webra 32 on 60' lines. Scotch tape will hold the covering back on when it starts blowing off.
