KR timers and Hobby King Trust esc's
« on: August 30, 2014, 08:58:20 PM »
Hi all,
I have read some where in this forum that people were using Hobby King Trust esc's with KR timers.
For the price I ended up buying one but noticed that the bec was 5.5 volts, isn't that a little too close to the 6 volt limit?
Is the esc safe to use without roasting the timer?

5.5 V should be OK.  You might want to measure it to make sure it is 5.5V  Plugg the speed controller into the LiPo battery (4 cell max) and measure the voltage between the red and black lead of the connector that would be plugged into the KR timer. If it is truly 5.5V it should be OK.  I suspect the KR timer has some safety margins built in.

Hi Guys,
I made the ver.2 to stand 6.0 volts so it will be fine. The only hassles I've had so far, was with esc's with noisy SBEC's (Switching Battery Eliminator Circuits) that supply fuzzy voltage. The Turnigy Trust series is made by Hobbywing and they work fine.
