Truck+Dune Buggy= Truggy
« on: July 30, 2014, 09:37:20 PM »
Is anyone using truggy engines in 21 sport speed or proto? Just curious because the choices we have in slow rat are basically all truggy engines and they have some pretty good ones in the 25 size after mods to adapt to the event.

The truggy choices in the .21 size look even more developed and exotic. Some even come with titanium nitride coated shafts and ceramic bearings standard.

TiN (Titianium Nitride) plating is done to push bike chains. They do the plates in the chains not the rollers. Sure makes them look damn pretty

Yes, I use gold on gold DID DHA chain on my kart.

Just wondering if anyone has tried the OS 21XZ or the Go Tech GX-7R and what they thought of the exhaust height.

the 21 size events are very bland allow tuned pipes and monoline and then you might have some people trying something besides the block most everyone uses. I know it will never happen monoline gets a bad rap but that is ok I like the way it  blends with the pylon it is much easier to operate vs 2 line system. we still have 3 speed contest left this year in LA I will let you know it I see one in a ship.

I think pipes and mono line is what you have in the B speed event. From what I've seen few fly B speed. 21 SS and proto are suppose to be events to attract non speed flying 2 line people like me. I don't think it's bland, alot faster than Foxberg and any speed contest I've been too 21 had the most entries.

Personally I would stay away from some of the cheaper buggy engines as the liners and pistons have extremely thin wall sections and  die real fast  Dont worry I know as have tried...   So shop around to see who has the better piston and liners first..  eg Rossi  OS    but find out about the liners first before you buy....   They will be quick

I'm not sure price is a good indicator, The go25 is only $160 and it's the fastest one in slow rat even though it seems to deteriorate a little too fast.

What engines have you played with?

Really thought this thread would get more mileage. I guess speed fliers are an exotic sub culture with a smaller subset that posts on the internet and none of them are talking about what they're doing.
