We had some visitors to our NVCL field today...

One of them seemed interested, but when I offered a training flight, she declined.

Well, if nothing else, the field is all mowed and ready for Saturday flying.  It looks good doesn't it?

Watch out if the field gets muddy they will leave nice little hoof prints to catch a wheel. Ask me how I know.

The deer are pikers compared to horses. Yep, can't understand why horse people need to bury there horse legs 6-8 inches deep in early spring at our circles. Then the ultimate, four wheelers like to do donuts on the circles. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Scott, you need to have a vicious predator on patrol.  Here is Spencer confronting a family of varmints single-handedly.

The deer aren't too bad.  What I worry about are moles.  They can really tear up a field.

By the way, we have this field on Friday, Saturday, and Monday to fly on, so if any of you ever come to the DC area, bring a plane!

We would commonly see deer at Buder Park, near St Louis.

When I used to fly at Shawnee Mission Park that was a normal occurrence in the spring and fall of the year.   Also would have Canadian Geese and a fox or two.  But the hedge tree got too big and the park wouldn't let me trim it.

It's pretty common to see deer at Buder Park in St. Louis. I even had one run through the circle, while flying one evening with my son several years ago. Gets your attention real fast. y1 y1 y1

Hey Howard:

I think that our NVCL Club Mascot should get together with Spencer.  Maybe he can get some pointers from Spencer on deer confrontation.

And then again, maybe not.

Scott,
Looks like you found out about the horse pads for a takeoff ramp too.  Cheaper than concrete, huh?

Yes, they really work well.  After many years of use, we had to re-level them this spring.  It just took a couple bags of sand and a little sweat.  Otherwise, they are trouble free and work great.  I wish I could claim it was my idea, but I think it was Chris Jackson who supplied them.
