2014 Nats action coverage.....

This 'frozen' Nats,  maybe the coldest on record is well under way.  Pretty busy here for now but wanted to show the menu today for the Open and Advanced top 20 finalists.

Message sent Robby just before his last flight.  I'm done for today so I'll try to finish up here.  Down to the last three- four flights on each circle.  Joe Parisi going up on four.  Joe is the Ausdie champ and a great gentleman.  We practiced together a couple times this week.  Brett Buck up on three.

Weather today is stunt perfect.  Actually qualifying was also save for the bitter cold mornings.  Walmart doesn't sell long sleeves this time of year.  Many of us found that out.

Thank you, Dave, for keeping this real=time thread on the finals. You are a great ambassador for Stunt. And, making the Top Twenty at this particular NATs with all the big guns present, is a valid accomplishment. Congratulations on both accounts,

Rest up Dave as there is next year and the top 5 to shoot for.   Isn't this the first time for top twenty for you in Open?   You ever wonder why you asked me about staying with stunt or combat years ago?  I think I responded with, "Which do you like the best".    Have a safe trip home also.

I'm not at the Nats, but I will sit here and quietly revel in the fact that four out of five of the qualifiers are from the west coast, and exactly half of those are from the Pacific Northwest.

I'll ignore, at least for now, the fact that exactly none of them are from Oregon.

OK.  Maybe not quietly.

I know you are trying to be funny, but we aren't "gloating" or anything else. Nor would we. We just get to fly in the next contest, which may turn out any way. I know I can speak for David when I say we are happy to have done as well as we have but under no circumstances would he or I go around bragging about it.

We certainly don't need any "internet controversies" created from imagination, particularly those that bring our sportsmanship into question.

For Open Top 20, Texas, Kentucky, Arizona, Alabama, Pennsylvania, and ???.  I would have to check on those used for Advanced and Expert.

I would also add, the contest itself is running like absolute clockwork, aided by nearly perfect although cool weather. Bob, Curt, Elaine, and Priscilla, and Dave and Steve, are to be commended, it's just smooth as silk. I have heard exactly zero complaints about the administration, which is rare indeed.
