'14 SS
« on: June 01, 2014, 08:13:04 AM »
The ’14 SS is a .60 to .75 size precision aerobatic airplane. It has a 63 ¼” wingspan and 772 square inches of wing area. The wing is 24% thick. The design was inspired by Jack and John Sunderland’s ’97 Chevelle. The engine shown in phantom is a Fox .74 Eagle 4 just to demonstrate the available engine space.
A different looking airplane for flying the pattern. The first laser cut kits will sell for $230.00 postpaid in the lower 48 states.
I have added an alternate canopy installation.

Thanks,  Pat

John,
You are correct that the basic shapes came from the 97 Chevelle. The wing is an Eppler 862 strut airfoil modified to be 24% thick. I didn't design it with an open cockpit because I prefered it to be closed with a turtledeck. The wing construction is my typical "eggcrate" ribs and spar with spar caps. The gear mounting is typical for my designs with wing mounted gear. The airplane is meant to be a compliment to the 97 Chevelle, that is why I say it was inspired by the 97 Chevelle.

John,
I don't have any building info or flight report yet. I am hopeing for some pictures of the finished airplane and some flight reports. I have kit parts and the parts to build another as an electric powered airplane. I will keep everyone up to date as/if I receive any information. It should fly great.

I have heard nothing from the kit purchaser. I have no idea when I will start the electric airplane.
