Bell cranks
« on: April 18, 2014, 04:54:45 PM »
I will not be making Bellcranks as it is to labor intensive. I made 4 I had one fail at 150LBS. It held for a bit but it did fail. The other 3 passed as they were made differently. My hinges are complete and I will post a pick of the perfict alignment system later tonight. I have 24 LG made and those are for sale along with the hinge system.

Hinges are all laser cut with laser cut centers. Brass bushed. Super free, I will never go back to plate hinges. If you can draw a straight line and drill holes straight they will be free.

There is a picture of my hand cut ones but the new ones are laser cut. You get 6 for flaps, four for elevators and four for the horns. Keeps everything aligned perfectly, however it is a different system than the norm. If your a person who uses taped hinges its not for you. But how many sharks have taped hinges. It allows the leading edge of the flap and elevator to stay tight against the trailing edge through the full swing. But the best thing is the freedom of movement, they flop like cloth hinges.

Do you have a drawing of the hinge installation.  A cross-section detail showing shape of wing TE and flap ?  Curious about how these hinges might be used with a single continuous wire for removable control surfaces.  What is cost for a set ?

cost is 10.00 for 10 and 4 bearings. I could sell extra bare plywood hinges for a installation like you speak of.
