« on: February 13, 2014, 08:20:52 AM »

Nostalgia Combat -  September 7, 2014 at the Garden State Circle Burners field in Lincoln Park, N.J. $5 admission, BYO eats & Drinks.
Get your old Voodoos, Giant Killers, Half Fast, Wow's or whatever and bring them out to fly or just show. Other than the usual AMA safety rules there are none! Matches will neither be encouraged or discouraged. The main idea is to see and hear the old junk fly!

We will have a special award for the fastest loop scavenged Fox engine, Presented by LS hisself.

Renegade is perfect. Don't think we saw one in the air last year.

I will not be making the trip, but your event is on the right track.

I've been a combat competitor since 1960 and have numerous combat planes (AMA, slow, and FAI) that have been caught on the wrong side of the frequent rules changes.

An old combat fly in is a great idea, and if streamers are tied on and some two-up sport flying happens so much the better.

I too wish it wasn't so far.  Haven't seen some of the guys since the NATS we were at during various times.  Will never forget my first VooDoo on crank case pressure.

We had a lot of fun last year, can't wait for this one. Hope Banjok and Sean and maybe a few others go at it again.

See you there!

We will have a special award for the fastest loop scavenged Fox engine, Presented by LS hisself.

Do you mean cross flow engine? Loop scavenged is schnuerle porting (2 sides and a boost port).

To Walt and all,  I meant to say a baffle piston Fox. ie. 36X or 36XBB. Last year we were in the mid teens. I am working on the Special Award right now.

Larry didn't have the right fuel to fly his nostalgia plane so he got a pass to fly a current f2d plane. At 81 years young he can still get it done. As someone mentioned 50 years goes away when he gets in the center of the circle. I can only hope I can do it at that age.

Enjoy!
