First flight of Volunteer
« on: November 10, 2013, 01:09:20 PM »
I got in two flights of my new Volunteer this morning. First was a short run to check wings level and for any yaw, lap time and line tension. All cool, so second flight I did the full pattern. My outsides are a tad tighter than the insides, lap time 5.3, lots of tension except up wind at 80 plus degrees. Should have done the maneuver more to my left it seems. The landings are to die for. It just plants all three wheels on the deck and stays put. Long gradual take offs as well. 63 eye to eye .015 lines, Fancher handle, 5/23 fuel (my mix), (+1% Randy's stuff) 3.8 oz,  5.3 laps. OS .46 LA-S with a Thunder Tiger 11 x 4.5 prop.  I didn't check the rpm, just made sure it did a nice rich 2.
Only had two problems, which none of us had any control. Sun was very bright and the wind was directly into the sun which is not so high this time of year and Lady Bugs, gaggles, googles, bazzillian of them. In my nose, my eyes, my ears. Made for interesting flying. LL~
