Report from the grass...right now I am the only stunt grunt out here but looks to be maybe four combat guys down on the other end.  I'm next to the scale circles.  I'm clocking 4-7 mph winds.  Couple of folks on the scale circles. As typical here I'm running 1/2 ounce+ long.

Wonderful in the grass.  Nice weather today!  Derek and crew are here. Kaz and Jerry Phelps are burning them in.  Still waiting on Stan and Gene.  Those playboys must be sleeping in.

Doc I'm at about 12-13 since yesterday AM.  Got a morning and evening session in but got windy during the day.  Got three so far today and people are filling the circles more now.

That breeze is coming up again like yesterday.  I clocked 8-9 mph.  I'm parked, Kaz parked, Gene and the Brazilians still going.

8-9 mph isn't even a breeze yet.   Now 20+ mph might park the plane back in the shade or vehicle.

I know it doesn't sound like much and until I got the equipment to measure winds I would have thought that what I now measure at 9 mph surely had to be 13-14.  I can now see we feel 'windy' at 9-10 and that's about where most of us roll up the lines when we can or grin and bear it during an official. At this point it becomes a cost/benefit analysis.  That's why with THIS 9 mph the field is clear.

Dave

Here at 6:15 the trees at the hotel are rock n rolling pretty good.  Looks like a little front might roll through.  Last night it was  real do-able after 7:30 or so.  It stays light here till about 9:30 .  Heading out soon,  expect most everybody will be out if just to visit.

The Muncie gremlins were out this morning. I had to bail out half way through my first practice because my lines were a little sticky and it was not worth the risk of flying. Cleaned the lines and used a little No Touch on the next flight and everything was back to normal. Paul took his plane out after me and hit the start button....and nothing happened. He ran over grabbed another battery and again, nothing happened. He brought it back to the pits and disassembled and cleaned all the electronics and still nothing. Then he decided to try a new arming plug. Beep Beep, the plane came to life and he put up a few practice flights. Paul's new electric setup is pretty neat. I got three flights in and on the third one I started to find my groove. After that is was off to lunch and now I am at the Hotel cooling my heels. We will go out again this afternoon for some more practice, hopefully on the Lpad.

Derek
