Northwest Regionals-Who's coming?
« on: May 19, 2012, 10:27:40 AM »
Those who are going to attend stand up and be counted. Scott Reise and I will be there on Friday. I suppose I will again be the oldest guy there but I can always hope someone older than this old -art will be there. Was going to fly Arctic Fox but it had to be retired.I guess I will fly new Vector. Sometimes things happen. My Fox 35 gave up on me. I am building new one with Stalker 40 in it. It has a little more wing area. and I suppose it will fly like the old one but will not get as oil soaked as the old one. In any case I will get to see all my freinds again and celebrate my 80th Birthday. #^ #^ #^ <=

Leo, I wish I could be there to help you celebrate, but again, as always, I no longer will attend the Regionals.  Sure enjoyed talking with yoiu at the Portland contest though.  Good luck, have fun. I will be thinking of you that weekend.

Happy Birthday.    I'll celebrate my 79th on May 23. Alan and I are arriving late on Thursday,     Chris and Joan will arrive Friday.  Your "much younger"  friend.   Keith

Well, for three years running I have positively stated on this forum that I will absolutely, definitely be coming, and for three years running I've wimped out because of not having a plane to fly, or because I forgot the date (really -- I work for myself and we home-school the kids, so our lives do not hinge on holidays), or because I didn't want to sleep in a tent in the pouring rain (that was last year).

So this year, I am Absolutely, Positively, No Question -- planning on showing up sometime Friday so that I can be well rested for NW Profile on Saturday.  But I ain't promising nothin'!!

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

I've recently found out I'm not quite as old as Leo, but I think I'm catching up.  Another year and I'll be even.

So watch for me flying OTS, Advanced, Scale--you heard, SCALE. (or don't watch if it will make you feel better)

Leo,

I plan to be there, hopefully arriving thursday afternoon.  I'm getting old, 73, but not as old as you really old farts.

I'm not likeing what I'm seeing on the weather report.  Hope all that rain predicted just goes away.  I plan to fly a couple speed events plus classic, expert and profile if Gordy lets me fly the little Pathfinder twin.  Gordan Delaney is planning on being there too.

I have a new stunt ship for classic and expert that is flying well.  It will be nice to fly and get appearance points for a change.

I've gone to this contest many times over the past 20 years. Weirdly, it's only been rained out a couple of times. The weather has been spectacular just a few times, but it is generally fair to decent. Can be cold and sometime windy, but usually flyable and mostly OK.

Hope you guys have a great time.

but well worth it,, and I am sick that I cannot go this year,,

Last year I flew my second official (intermediate) flight during a short squal. Lot's of rain and wind during a short 6 or 7 minute period, and yep it was my time. The one good thing, I got lots of sympathy points from the judges  LL~ LL~ and managed to edge out my brother by just a few points.

I'll be there again this year and flying advanced for the first time. But I think the Crash Gods are working against me; I've crashed twice in the past few weeks, both times with my only "contest" plane. Like I said, I'll be there and looking forward to the fun, but will be flying an untested repaired plane. There is a very good chance that I have a lock on last place. Oh well, it's always a fun contest.

I wish this question had not been asked as I won't be at the 2012 NWR.

(Edited to eliminate way too much Me! Me! It's all about me! blah-blah-blah.)

Very much wish I could be in Eugene this weekend. Just couldn't work it out.

In particular my apologies are extended to the organizers of this outstanding contest.

Oh! In my absence will someone please poke fun at Kristen Hunt when at the garbage cans she erects her hand-lettered sign begging for recycling?

My best to all,

Dan

Well I am -- I hope! -- going to hop in my truck in about 30 minutes and get out of here.

Of course, I thought I'd be leaving at noon:30, but then I got this call from a customer that Could Not Be Ignored.

(Note to self: pull the cord on the business phone on contest weekends...)

I'll post again on Sunday or Monday.
