RSM Starduster 40

[Aero 58]

Has anyone built the RSM kit 'Starduster 40' with an OS LA46? How was the build and flights with the LA46. A neat looking model. Thinking of getting one for my LA46.

Maybe it hasn't been out long enough.   I know the designer and the manufacturer.   It should be a great flying plane, if built right and then trimmed.   By the way don't expect a step by step building manual with it.  Better have some planes under your belt.

Brian Baker (of the "Fabulous Baker Boys") is building one right now I believe he started paint work last week. He will be using an LA .40 also.
If I talk to him tonight, I'll have him post some pictures here.

I,ve seen Eddy Capitinelli' original here in Tucson.  It's georgeous like all of Eddy's planes.  Its a derivative of his full size "Stardusters" built for ST60's.  The 40 size airplane is fairly large for a LA46 and needs to be built light but it's a great flier.
Personally I would be tempted to put a good ST 46 or even a 51 in it.  I love LA 46's and have modified a lot of them over the years.  A really strong one would work just fine in the Starduster...but when they begin to get a little tired, it would severly tax the ability of the airplane.
One of Eddy's full size Stardusters is hanging on the wall in my shop...it's still one of the most beautiful airplanes I've seen and has positively the hardest corner of any airplane I've flown.  It has my Greenaway ST "Killer Bee" engine and really doesn't get flown much...it's such a work of art!

PS:  I also have one of the RSM kits for the Starduster 40 and plan to build it soon.  I have a Moki 51 that needs a home.

Thanks for the reply. Photos would be nice. Have been modelling for 35 years and come back to C/L for the last two. Currently building a Brodak Legacy 40.

I liked the looks of the full size Starduster, but I have not seen the .40 size one yet.

Look up CLW Jan 2012 page 25 to see all the variants of the Starduster. Cool aeroplanes. Are there plans for them all? RSM has plans for the 40 if needed and the Kit.
