If there is anyone who remembers the article in F.M in 1964 they will look at those plans and then these and realize just how far we have come. These are lirerally a work of art. So put me down for one.
My only complaint is that Jack did the Army version which flew once and did not make a landing as it caught fire in the air and was destroyed and no other with the nose modification was constructed.
The bad thing is that you can't modify it to the Navy version and fly it in classic.

Got mine today. I forgot just how BIG that model is!

Looking it over, if one were to update it for modern flying, I'd go with a two inch greater span on the stab/elevators, go with at least 7/8th flaps, leaving about two inches at the tips as TE.
I think my Galloping Comedian cowl can be used to make a mold for two fiberglass cowls. Should be fun. Doing the canopy mold shouldn't be a brain surgeon thing.  Hey, we are "modelers" after all.  Hoff Coffee y1

First thing I'm going to do is try making the two cowls. Then go from there. No rush on this one. No place to put it anyway. Gotta sell some off the wall.  Hoff Coffee Layingdown

Aw, heck, Chief, just sell the engine and give them the plane.  Some deserving rising "star" could use a couple good planes! Grin y1

I have given away, less engines, five so far, in the last three years. Crashed only two (totals), dinged four, and still have seven on the wall that have yet to be flown. One is just "art"/"converstion Piece" kinda like a three legged dog.

Three are in the almost ready to cover stage.  This is the part I hate. Dope, sand, dope, fill, sand, dope/fill, sand. Paper, dope, sand, dope, sand. ETC.

Cooler weather doesn't help.  Cold dope wil not dry as fast, is not recommeded for spraying under 65 F. So, things slow down and here I am yakking on here.   Hoff Layingdown Layingdown Layingdown Layingdown
