Jim,

Are there any plans (pun intended) to kit Don's Warbird designs?

Steve.

Thanks for the info Jim. I already have many of Don's plans.

I was just going to ask the same question about possible kits of these designs. I did hear some talk not all that long ago that someone was up to something with it. I've been hoping ever since that it wasn't just talk. Don's designs would make for an exceptional line of semi-scale stunt kits. They would also make excellent sport scale type models. y1

Funny you guys should ask that. I was going to put something out on it next week but since you insist.  Devil

I will tell you what I can as of now.  We have been working on this for the past year and a half. We, I say that loosley, Pete Cunha has finished the prototyoe for Dons Dauntless and  we trying to decide if we want to sell it as a kit or a short kit.

The P-47 cad plans and files are drawn and the prototype is getting ready to be cut and we have the P-51 cad plans and files done but I am not doing any more on it until I finish up some of my other projects I have started. I am not sure where we will go from here with the rest of Dons Warbirds. Time will tell.

Here is a link to my website talking about them.  http://www.clcentral.com/products.asp?cat=91

I will attach a photo of the Dauntless prototype. Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Jim Snelson

Pete definately went above the call of duty on building it for me. I just wanted him to make sure all the parts went together properly and this is what I got back. I could not have asked for more.

Wayne, I will keep the P-38 in mind as we proceed.

I have all of Don's plans.  I love his designs.  I'll be in the front of the line to get the kits.

I will let you all know when we are ready to release the Dauntless.

OK Wayne how about this photo of the prototype? Does this look a little more like what you expected?

Thanks,

Hi Jim,

KUDOS on providing Don's plans!  The planes are all very, very, good!  Don did an AWESOME job in designing these.

With cad plans done, I can see no reason (other than economics) to not offer at least short kits/parts.  No one is actively cutting parts (for the public) for these at the present time, that I know of (and being very interested myself, I have done extensive research!).

Good luck!

Looking at the CLC web site I see after the SBD Dauntles the P-47 and P-51 are next in the kit line (at that time) P-38 Huh

There has been a great deal of interest in the P-38 and I am planning on starting it after I finish the first three. I am kind of fond of that one also. I will be getting the cad plans drawn up for it shortly.

This has been a real learning experience for me. There are many things about kitting that you do not think about until you start doing them. Not to mention the cost of putting a kit together.

The Dauntless is almost ready to start boxing up. I am hoping to have some ready to sell by the end of the month or first part of Febuary. I quess before I go much farther maybe I should ask if everyone would rather have short or full kits. The short kit would come with the laser cut parts and the plans for $99.99. A full kit, which would include the laser cut parts, plans, sticks, sheeting, landing gear and block, hardwood motor mounts, tip weight box, adjustable leadout slider, tail wheel block and a couple of other items that would be needed, and it would run $169.99. I will not be including controls, but I have put togehter a package with the parts that will be needed for the Dauntless if any one wanted to purchase them. This is an all ball link system and will run $42.95.

All prices quoted above DO NOT include shipping.

Let me know what you all think.

Hi Jim,

Is there any update on kitting Don's warbirds?  I don't see the web page announcing their future availability.

OK guys sorry for the slow reply but I was working with my we host provider to get the problems resolved.

What happened was a few days ago I went to renew my SSL cert. (This is the item that keeps your credit card info secure when ordering on my web page) and when the hosting company installed it they hosed the web site and it would not come up. So, I had them restore the site but some how they managed to restore it to a version that was at least a year old and did not have the short kit information on it. So to you it just looked like I had possibly removed the item.  Anyway, I have spent the past few days trying to get them to fix the problem. I think they have it fixed now so you should be able to see the short kit and any other newer items. There is a link on the home page, at the right side of the page, to the short kit page. If it doesn't work for you please let me know.

Sorry for the problems.

Thanks,

Jim,

Thank you for the update.  I understand that you have a lot on your plate at the moment.  I was just concerned that you had decided not to continue with the kitting of Don's beautiful warbirds.  I will continue to wait patiently for them.

Short kits with plans would be perfect as far as I'm concerned. y1
