First SSW now Stunt Hangar. I was told to delete cookies, all I can find is to allow or block cookies. I didn't mess with SH now it's like SSW and have to log in everytime I restart the PC. Huh? Head bang Head bang Head bang

Not sure why you are having the problem.

But usually your browser should have some type of "reset" which allows you to clear out all the cobwebs that have been accumulating. On mine (Mac Safari) it is called "reset" appropriately, but then gives you the options of what you want to clear out.

If I look at Firefox, it is under the Tools Menu and called "Clear recent history" and you can give a time limit.

On my PC and IE, it is under Tools, "delete browsing history", and select cookies.

But be warned you will lose all you other passwords too--if they are stored in the cookies.

I go in about every three weeks and do a clear history.  That is why I keep all logins & passwords written where I can get to them.  Since I started doing it I haven't gotten any more of those bogus e-mails supposedly from ebay and paypal.

I keep a folder in my email account for "Forum Passwords" and user names. It works well for me. If I forget my email password, I'm probably not going to care about SSW or SH.  Hoff Steve

Interestingly (?) I made a post, looked at another thread, and there were no buttons for "reply", "Quote", etc. I wasn't logged in anymore. No idea why, or how it happened. I guess some would blame it on IE Exploder, but I don't.  Coffee Steve

Now it's doing it again. Now that it has been mentioned this all started when I changed to Internet Explorer 8. I have not heard anything good about it yet.

Aren't computors fun.  I can't say enough bad things about this new Windows program.  Could be the provider is the  main problem,  AT&T U-Verse.

Well, I've switched back to Internet Explorer 7 and its fine now.  (just the search engine is a bit wierd at times) I also have tried Fire Fox, and it also has the same problem. On top of that.. it can not open PDF files for some reasons, like the ones from Flying Lines and the Catalog in the MBS website etc.

Hi Joe,

I had the same problem when I accidently (actually I just clicked on "update" without really reading what Microsoft was updating) and got IE 8.  What a mistake...I tried setting it up like I was told by the helpline and still no joy.  After two weeks of that mess I called Microsoft & got back to IE 7; no further problems.  IE 8 seems to go along with the disaster that is Windows Vista - I am staying with Windows XP with which I have no problems.

Lee,

Don't panic.   I run IE8 without problems, so I suspect that your cookies constantly getting deleted is a *setting* within IE8.

The login data for your various web sites, is stored on your computer, in the form of a cookie (one of the cookies that is on your side).  I don't know why someone would tell you to delete all of your cookies, because they are of a great benefit to you....the login data being a good example.

Do you know when your cookies are getting deleted?   Are you manually deleting them?   It is good practice to  occasionally delete your Temporary Internet Files, and you can do that without deleting your cookies.

In IE8, under <Tools> <Delete Browsing History>,  look to make sure that the Cookies Box is NOT checked off.  Also, at the top of that dialog box, is a box you should check off that says "Preserve Favorites web site data".   Among other things, that eliminates the deletion of desired cookies.

Check it out, and report back to us, and by all means, do not pull out any of your hair over this issue !! :-)

Cheers,

Warren Wagner

I have the same problem having to log in every time. I use Firefox and this is the only web site with logins that does this to me. So, my other cookies aren't getting deleted, only this one for some reason unknown to me.

Dennis...This would make me suspect that your settings here on Stunthanger aren't correct. Check the box where it says "Stay logged in Forever", maybe?  Steve

I discovered that at the log-in window, if you double-click on the name space your username comes up, then if you click on that your password magically appears in the window (as a series of dots of course)--then hit "login" and here you are, no keystrokes required...whut'll they think of next.
