I cannot open image files anymore. Photoshop Elements says: "invalid JPEG Marker"?

Peter, are you talking about this site, or any image on you PC?

Peter, You might want to try to clear out all cookies and temp. internet files associated with this site on your machine. You'll have to log back in, but no big deal.Something must have got corrupt on your IE. Let us know if that fixes it.

Its just some pictures on this site, Richard. Including Avatars, for example:
My own: No
Leester: Yes
Joe Yau: No
Ward van Duzer; Yes

I have removed all cookies related to Stunthanger (No such temp files found or recognised) with no result.
Photoshop Elements 4.0 says: OISjpegfile is "Differential JPEG" not being supported by P.E. I will now upgrade to version 7 and report findings then.
Thank you for suggesting possible causes so far.

Exporting one the image files which I cannot open to the desktop and unsuccessfully trying to  open it with all kind of programs, such as picture viewer, corel and such, one of the error messages I am getting says  "Can not open OISjpegfile" Could it be that "OISjpegfile" means the file was generated under Open Office? And that all of my windows xp programs refuse to open it?  "Help" in xp does not really help...

How about a link to the file you are trying to open?

Try this. Upgrading to version 7 of Photoshop Elements did not help. Perhaps I should try installing Open Office?

Peter there is a problem with that photo. I am not sure if it is one that was lost. But I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you, Robert. Unfortunately I am still not able to see or open the image and the same is true for many, if not most, of the AVATAR's on Stunthanger. I am afraid that I have, as you said earlier, a problem on my side. However, what I do not really understand is that on Stuka all (no exception) images open automatically anytime, same as with all other websites. Attached is 96 KB test image.

rgds, Peter

Do you see what you said? 96KB not 1 meg that the other photo was uploaded. That is 10 times the allowed size. You and other who are trying to view those photos cant! Because they are not sized right for this website. THEY HAVE BEEN UPLOADED WRONG!

Sparky...When did you change the file size limit from 1000kb to 100kb? If that has been changed, then a lot of pictures will be S.O.L.  I always thought 100kb was plenty...many of mine are under 50kb, like SSW.  As for the Avatars, I've never quite understood what value they are if they're photos. Too small to understand what they are pics of, and no way to enlarge them that I've ever found. If there is a way, I'm all ears...so to speak.

Thanks everybody for trying to help. Following advice from Claudia Kehnen (www.fesselflug.eur) and my son I've  installed Mozilla Firefox as std. browser yesterday. All problems solved, pix are popping up as ever.
Kind regards, Peter Germann Hoff
