Thanks for all the different ideas. That's exactly what I was hoping for. I will probably have my son give it a test flight this weekend to see if he gets similar results with his loops. Beyond that, I have a lot of mechanical components to inspect and consider.

Explanations about the handle were helpful. We have always used handles were you can really only change the wire length. I do have some handles where you can adjust spacing, so it sounds like we should start using those to give us better tweak options  to optimize performance. If we fly this weekend I will provide an update.

Matt called me the other day with the initial news about Len having some health issues . This recent news is just devastating. Our prayers are with Len and his family daily.

Len spent his life in service to the Lord as a Lutheran minister, so his eternal resting place is pretty well assured. But all of us will miss him here when his time comes.

I need to pass on one of my favorite stories about Len. In 1980 at the Wilmington Nats I was just not happy with my performance leading up to the competition. Len sensed this I think and invited me to lunch with is family. Matt was just a tyke at the time... Len listened intently to my grousing for a while, and then very calmly gave me the following piece of information that has stuck with me ever since. He said, "Bob, do your possible best, not the best possible." Thanks, Len; you changed my life that day.

  The Silver Foxx .40's I have are all the ones with the squire intake and the tall back plate. Some refer to the back plate as the coffin style back plate. I don't know if Lew ever did any of the older Fox .40's or not. He helped with an article on how to retime the engine that was in StuntNews many years ago. You might find it posted in the forums some where as this has been discussed many times.
