Title: Just a thought....
Post by: jim gilmore on September 09, 2011, 06:21:23 PM
When you design a model. Do you take into consideration how it might be used as a real aircraft ?
What I am wondering is in the realm of canards does one think about weather the pilot would have good or bad visibility from the cockpit if you had large booms or too close a stabilizer to be able to see ahead or below ?

I'm not sure that designers always take that into consideration in a real aircraft, Jim.

But that was the excuse that Miles Aircraft used for the Miles Libellula:

Pretty cool looking. I just wondered if modelers though about it. I know that many times designers overlook the obvious.

I personally don't see how anyone would see out of those silver and blue feathered painted out canopies. And speaking of Windy (!), the Cardinal windscreen is bound to have some horrible distortions in it! ;->
