Hi Rusty,

I suspect it would work with a "true venturi" like the old Super Tigres use.

Randy can supply one as well as the "usual" suspects (Jim Lee, Scott Riese, Leonard Neumann, Byron Barker, Tom Dixon, local machinists, etc..) who make venturi, I'm sure.

Bill, Don't get an origional TT venturi for the engine. It's too big a throat diameter.
The needle valve is fine or you can also use the OS15 NVA.

Go to Tower Hobbies web site. Type in OS engines. Look under accessories. Check in carb section  it is in there.

I don't think that anyone recommended the OS15 venturi, only the needle valve. You can probably get a venturi from Jim Lee at Lee Machine shop. he is in the vendors section

People set these up. I believe the case is usually drilled with a venturi in it to match up the holes. A friend modified a 15 Magnum engine for me, also uses a pinch bolt to locate the carb. The FP 15 needle and venturi fit the case after that. The needle going through the case like a stock FP. Looks good. Leonard Neuman talks about setting Magnums up. Check with him. See if he's still doing the CL conversion.

Dennis-
Do you happen to remember (or does someone know) if the OD of the OS .15 venturi where it fits into the crankcase is .350"?
I have a TT .15 baffle engine that wanted to get going, and I'll just buy the OS venturi if I think it will fit, and then drill the case for the OS needle as well... Of course, there is the offset of the hole for the needle in the venturi, relative to the shoulder, to consider....
See pic.
Thanks, and sorry for the digging of ancient history!

Chris

Based on a post in "the OTHER forum", I have discovered that the OS .15FP venturi that Tower sells is .333" OD where it slides into the crank case; the TT carb neck is .350 as I measure it.
I'll have to find one that diameter or get one made for my little TT .15 baffle engine.

Chris

Enya's  venturi for 15-20 may be usable for your TT15 because the shank is 8.8mm though I don't know the OD of sparbar of TT15. (ENYA's spraybar is 4.0mm dia)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ENYA-15-19-20-C-L-VENTURI-DELRIN-NIP-/291989429366

ID of 15522 is 6.7mm, so it may be too large for your TT15.
15521 is 6.0mm and it will be fine for 15.

Does anyone have that guy on ebay, "shtterman" contact info direct?
I think he may have that Enya venturi that Aki mentioned, and hoping the distance from the shoulder to the needle hole is right for me.
Thanks,
Chris

Aki

I bought a 15521 from Shtterman on Ebay, and it looks like it should easily fit, Aki.
I wonder if the 4mm diameter Brodak NVA will allow enough breathing for the 6mm venturi neck though? I would think it would have to, since that is the size of the cross drilled hole in the venturi.
I'll probably have to get an 8mm x 1mm o-ring, because I think that will be what it takes to seal the gap between the venturi shoulder and the case. Not a real problem, I need a seal anyway. The very thin rubber gasket is too thin indeed, but I think the 1mm oring should be about right.

Thanks again for the lead on a over the counter part, Aki!

Respectfully,
Chris Behm

I guess 6.0mm is a good starting point for 15.
It is easy to ream the ID, if you want to, depending on the temp, alt, model, fuel, tank size and etc.
You will be able to find the best ID between 6.0 and 6.5mm.

Ok, thanks Aki, I will try the venturi as it is, and with the 4mm needle first, to see what it runs like.
Thanks,
Chris
