Gilbert .11 "Thunderhead" part search/info?
« on: December 03, 2016, 04:24:12 PM »
I've currently got a very nicely customized Gilbert .11 making it's way to my mailbox. It's complete with all original NIB accessories, except for one, which I am now searching for...

It seems these engines were supplied with a plastic prop that essentially had the back half of the spinner incorporated into it. The "nose" of the spinner was a separate piece that somehow then fastened to the prop. Does anyone out there have a nice usable "nose" piece, or a lead on locating one?

I'm attaching a couple photos that I found on Google that show the prop/spinner I'm describing...

I don't think I have one, but I'll look later today.

Your welcome to it, as I don't use old plastic propellers unless it's only for display.

Mine came with the prop, Wayne, not sure about the spinner - I'll check tomorrow.

 Thanks guys, I'm interested.

I'm not planning on flying with the plastic prop, I just want the spinner to complete the package. I'm planning on building a Blackhawk Models "Phantom MK XV" for the Gilbert. I really dig the silver one I've seen in the photo below and plan on essentially duplicating it as a fun small project.

I did see a NIP prop/spinner last night on Ebay. It's a 6x3 though so I think it might be for the smaller .074? I'm not sure what they supplied with the .11, maybe they both used the same?  ???

Wayne, I also love the looks of the Phantoms, and wish I had built one when I could still handle the speed of a Perky style racer!

Found just one Gilbert prop (no spinner) that is 7" in diameter. I assume that it came with one of my Gilbert .11 engines, but I have no plans to use it.

Send me your mail address, and I'll get it on the way to you.

It's free, but I'm looking forward to seeing a photo of your Phantom some day.  H^^

Thanks Bill, I just sent you a PM.

When I do get to the Phantom build I'll be posting progress etc. here on the forum. First though is finishing this Don Hutchinson P-38 that's currently kicking my butt... ;D
